Love is Never Easy – A review of “Easy Love” by Kristen Proby

Sweet, Hot Romance in the Big Easy

Kate O’Shaughnessy’s job of corporate investigation has taken her to the Big Easy (also affectionately referred to by locals as NOLA). She’s been hired by Eli Boudreaux, CEO of family-owned Bayou Enterprises that’s been in the ship building business for generations. He’s desperate to find out which of his employees is embezzling from his company. Kate decides her cover as an office worker will allow her to move among the staff without raising their suspicions. But neither of them counted on their strong mutual attraction and the sparks begin to fly. Kate succumbs to Eli’s southern charm and he is enchanted by her and her love of sexy lingerie. When the embezzler is revealed and Kate has to return home, Eli is stymied trying to figure out a way to keep her in NOLA. Can they find a way to make it work?

I haven’t read all of Kristen Proby’s work yet but I’m working on it. “Easy Love” started a bit slow but once the pace picked up I was all in. The character development is excellent, especially Kate’s, but it’s revealed very late in the story. Eli, on the other hand undergoes an almost overnight radical character change from a dedicated manwhore to a one-woman-man. While this is admirable I’m not sure it’s realistic. Even so, it’s a feel-good love story with just enough conflict to add some much needed tension and a healthy serving of sexual chemistry to what would otherwise be a too-sweet fairytale romance. I was in the mood for a good love story and Proby always delivers. Four stars.
