Well. Tim Tigner has been one of my favorite thriller writers because of the originality and quality of his writing. So, based on his work and his bio, reading his most recent book, “What New Hell Next?” made it difficult to accept the many ways he allowed himself to be used and abused by his now ex-wife. Also, the subject of Parental Alienation was new to me and I’m thankful for that.
I knew going in that this wasn’t going to be Tigner’s usual edge-of-your-seat thriller but I didn’t expect to need a dose of lithium or whatever is currently used to treat depression nowadays. That said, I am astounded at the soul-baring honesty with which he tells his story of a twenty year relationship coming apart at the seams. Especially with the horrific effect it had on his children. It took a toll on me as a reader so I can’t begin to imagine having to actually live through it in real time. It’s definitely an eye-opener.
I just hope that when Tigner recovers from his personal emotional hell that he gets his mojo back. Four stars.
