Brooke Lemon had everyone fooled into thinking she was a fearless thrill-seeker, always looking for her next big adventure, right up until she nearly died in a helicopter crash. She has mastered the art of hiding from her feelings, including her mistakes, one of which is not having been home to see her sister in seven years. On the verge of a nervous breakdown, Mindy shows up and hands her three kids over to Brooke, as if to say; “Here., take ’em. I need a break.”

Brooke’s other major mistake was running from her past with the tall, dark and handsome next door neighbor, Garrett. They’d been sweet on each other since high school but Brooke had stomped all over his heart when she left the first time and he wasn’t keen on going through that misery again. Theoretically that made perfect sense, except their secret past acted like a giant magnet, continually pulling them back together again and again. Meanwhile, the sisters had plenty of work to do trying to repair the damage done to their relationship by a seven year separation. Can it all be fixed or is it irrepairable?
“The Lemon Sisters” is a multilayered family love story – parental love, sibling love, love between friends and of course, romantic love. Author Jill Shalvis offers up a heartwarming and poignant and sexy story that will tug on your heartstrings, make you grin a little and laugh out loud sometimes and maybe even shed a tear or two. The dialogue is absolutely delicious and the characters are wonderfully complex and complete. The kids are delightful and very nearly steal the show. Five stars.
